Escape the bustle of Marrakech and journey into the heart of the Western High Atlas Mountains, where timeless Berber villages, terraced fields, and dramatic mountain passes await. This two-day trek takes you from the vibrant valleys of Imlil and Mzik to the breathtaking waterfalls of Tamsoult and the welcoming village of Tizi Oussem. Along the way, you’ll cross high passes, walk through fragrant juniper forests, and experience authentic Berber hospitality in a local guesthouse.

ITINERARY

• 01 Marrakech – Imlil – Tizi M’zik – Tamsoult Waterfalls – Tizi Oussem

  After breakfast in Marrakech, drive for 1h30 through Tahanout, Moulay Brahim, and Asni before arriving in Imlil, where your guide and mule team will be waiting. Once everything is loaded, begin the trek with an ascent to Tizi M’zik Pass (2,500m), offering sweeping views over the Imlil and Azzaden valleys. Stop for a picnic lunch under the shade of juniper trees while admiring the panorama. Continue your hike down to the impressive Tamsoult Waterfalls, the highest in the region, before retracing your steps toward Tizi M’zik and descending to the charming village of Tizi Oussem (1,850m). Capture unforgettable views of the Berber landscape before settling into a traditional guesthouse for dinner and overnight. Approx. 7 hours walking

• 02 Tizi Oussem – Id Aissa – Tizi Oudid – Mattat – Marrakech

  After breakfast, follow the trail down through the valley to reach the village of Id Aissa (1,800m). Continue eastward to the Tizi Oudid Pass (2,010m), where spectacular views of the Imlil and Azzaden valleys unfold, dotted with traditional Berber villages. Trek on past Mattat village until you arrive near Agersioual (1,600m), where you will enjoy a riverside lunch under walnut trees. In the afternoon, meet your driver for the return journey to Marrakech. Approx. 5 hours walking
