ITINERARY

  • 01 Marrakech - Imi oughlad- Pass Tacht – Tizi Oussem (1950m).

After breakfast in Marrakech, we transfer to Imi Oughlad (1h30 drive). Here you’ll meet your guide and mule team. Once our gear is loaded, we begin the trek with an ascent to Tizi Tacht (2,005 m), offering superb views over the Imlil and Azzaden valleys. We stop for lunch in peaceful green surroundings with panoramic Atlas views, before descending through the villages of Tahliouine and Id Aissa. The day ends in the village of Tizi Oussem (1,900 m), where we stay overnight in a traditional Berber house. (6 hours walking)

  • 02 Tizi Oussem – Tizi Mzik – imlil – Armoud.

Today we enter the Toubkal National Park, hiking past the region’s highest waterfalls (2,300 m). Retracing part of the trail, we climb to the Tizi Mzik Pass (2,500 m), with breathtaking views over the Aït Mizane and Azzaden valleys. After lunch in Mzik, we continue our trek to the village of Aroumd, the largest settlement in the Imlil Valley. Overnight in a Berber guesthouse. (5–6 hours walking)

  • 03 Aroumd – Sidi Chamarouch – Toubkal Refuge

We set out towards the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, passing through groves of juniper trees. After crossing the river, we reach this sacred site, a place of pilgrimage for locals. Nestled by a small waterfall, the village blends into the rocky hillside. From here, the trail climbs steadily towards the snowline, eventually reaching the Toubkal Refuge. Overnight at the refuge in preparation for tomorrow’s summit attempt. (5 hours walking)

  • 04 Toubkal Refuge – Toubkal Summit – Return to Imlil – Marrakech

We start early for the ascent of Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa (4,167 m). Following the southern cirque, we cross streams and traverse scree slopes, with the altitude adding to the challenge. The final ridge brings us to the summit plateau, where the views stretch across the Atlas Mountains and out toward the Sahara—an unforgettable reward. After enjoying the panorama, we descend to the refuge, continue down to Imlil, and transfer back to Marrakech in the late afternoon. (9–10 hours trekking; +900 m / –2,500 m)
