High Atlas Valleys Trek: From Imlil to the Ourika Valley (3 Days)

This 3-day trek takes you through some of the most scenic valleys and traditional Berber villages of the High Atlas Mountains. Starting from Imlil, you’ll cross high passes, discover remote hamlets, and enjoy panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and lush valleys. The route leads you from the Imnane Valley to the ancient village of Tachedirt, continues over a spectacular pass into the green Ourika Valley, and ends at the famous village of Setti Fatma with its waterfalls. Along the way, you’ll share authentic moments with local families, sleep in traditional guesthouses, and immerse yourself in the unique culture of the Atlas. ITINERARY

• 01 Marrakech – Imlil – Imnane Valley – Tachedirt

  Depart Marrakech in the morning for a scenic drive through Mouly Brahim Gorge to the Imlil Valley (1h30). From Imlil (1745m), begin the trek toward Tizi n’Tamatert (2275m), with superb views over both the Imlil and Imnane Valleys. Pass pine and juniper forests before reaching the villages of Ouanskera and Amgdoule (2140m). After lunch by the river, continue to the village of Tachedirt (2305m), the oldest settlement in the Toubkal Massif. Dinner and overnight in a traditional Berber gite. (5–6 hours walk)

• 02 Tachedirt – Tizi n’Tachedirt – Iaabassen – Timichi

  After breakfast, climb steadily to Tizi n’Tachedirt Pass (3205m), enjoying spectacular 360° views of Jebel Aksoual (3840m), Bou Igenouane (3890m), and Angour (3620m), with the green Ourika Valley below. Descend toward Iaabassen (2040m), where lunch is served by a natural spring. Continue through orchards and terraced fields to reach the ancient Berber village of Timichi (1870m), set among walnut groves. Dinner and overnight in a Berber guesthouse. (6–7 hours walk)

• 03 Timichi – Agadir n’Ait Boulmane – Setti Fatma – Marrakech

  Today’s trek follows the Ourika Valley, passing fields of grain and fruit groves, and villages such as Isghouarne, Tiourdiw, and Agadir n’Ait Boulmane. Arrive at Setti Fatma, a well-known village famous for its waterfalls. Lunch is prepared in a peaceful grove near the cascades before a short walk to meet your transfer back to Marrakech. (5–6 hours walk + 1h30 drive)
